Getting married?
Getting married can be pretty stressful, finding the perfect dress than searching for the right Hairstylist and Make up artist that still fits in the budget and knows their stuff.
From my experience of doing tons of weddings, here are a few tips that might help you finding the perfect hair and make style that goes with your personality and the dress.
Every "bride to be" should do several trials before the big day. That way there won't be any unpleasant surprises on your actual Wedding Day. Bring lots of pictures of the hair style and make up you might like. Also a picture of your dress will help with choosing the perfect look.
Many of my clients keep looking through bridal magazines and I'm sure you know what Im talking about, buying every bridal magazine you can find but than you realize that most of the pictures are way overdone and in my opinion, look like something that should go on a wedding cake but not you. Here is what I would recommend: We all have 1 idol or celebrity crush, someone we relate to, someone we admire and follow there style. For me it's Charlize Theron and Sienna Miller. So why not check out what they wear down the red carpet. There make up and hair will look flawless yet less over the top and I'm sure it will match your personality.
After your trial, make sure you have some pictures taken both for you to keep and the stylist so everyone will remember on the day what needs to be done and the actual wedding day will start smoothly, give yourself enough time between trial and wedding day, in case you need to switch or change something.
3 weeks before, I would recommend a peel or facial so you have perfect glowing skin. 3 days before your wedding day cut out sodium and caffeine, that is a number 1 rule for every model before a photo shoot as well. Sodium can give you puffy eyes and caffeine can dehydrate you as well give you break outs on your chin especially when you feel a bit stressed out from last minute wedding plans. Instead double your water intake and try to get enough hours of sleep in.
Hair: I like to give my bride to be a gloss a few days before the wedding in order to create a beautiful shine to the hair. Also be bold if you have a blunt color, give it more richness by adding a toner or some Balayage highlights. It will look so pretty and healthy with your perfect up do or glamorous wave, with anything...if you have short hair try different hair jewelry, a nice comb or pin even a pretty headband or tiara. I'm not a big fan of the veil but if you have one, keep it simple. Less is more, I so believe in that saying.
Make Up: Glow, Glow, Glow! There is nothing more youthful than moist and glowing skin. When I do bridal make up, I use a rose oil(like by Decleor or by Ren) on clean skin before the foundation, it plumps up the skin and gives it that dewy look. I then use a bronzer on the face to give it warmth and that healthy sun kissed glow. I also prefer a cream blush over a powder one, it all pulls it together better. To finish it all off I only put powder on the T-zone, never on the cheeks. Bridal make up is all about your eyes, the Windows to your soul as the saying goes. Make your eyes stand out add a few lashes to open up your eyes. Find a shadow that brings out your eye color. ( green eyes: plum, mauve, aubergine tones, blue eyes: grey, charcoal tones, brown/hazel eyes: bronze, gold and green tones) The final step is to pick a paler lip color with gloss, I like the pale pinks or beige tones. Again keeping in mind you still want to look like you and bring out your personality.
Below are some of my bridal hair and make up styles that were celebrity inspired.
Hair Trends 2016
For all my brunettes:
Rich glossy Chocolate colors are in trend this year, no more stripy nor dry looking hair.
On my client Daniel I worked with her natural base and added two different brown tones to give lots of dimension I also painted with color (not bleach) some lighter gold tones through her mid length, leaving the roots alone. This gives a very rich natural look.
On Brooke I matched her natural brown and only painted some mahogany tones in her front root section basically framing the face with it to create some light and shine that gives a lively reflection when outside in natural lights.
Haircuts:
Yes the 1980 are back! But not as puffy nor perms :) but hair length to the collarbone with longer layers vs shorter which gives volume and playfulness. Bangs are back as well I created on Danielle a longer bang that enhances your cheek bones and is more manageable less work than a short bang plus you can part this in the middle or to the site. Tip: Try a zig zag part that can hide grey or add volume to finer thinning hair.
